FICS: Making a Difference in our North Texas Community

Demonstrating FICS’ commitment to giving back to our community, 15 FICS^® employees and friends recently volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) distribution center in Plano, TX. FICS’ team spent a few hours of their Saturday morning helping pack 4,740 meals for food insecure students through NTFB’s Food 4 Kids Program.

The challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic continue to impact the landscape of hunger in the North Texas area, even as we enter 2023. More than 600,000 people in North Texas, including over 200,000 children, experience hunger. The NTFB, a nonprofit hunger relief organization, has provided a record-level 136.9 million nutritious meals in the last year. Doing so requires many dedicated volunteers who are willing to donate their time, energy, and resources.

A member of our Mortgage Servicer^® System Support team likes giving her time to NTFB because “you can see and feel the difference you are making.” The NTFB depends on financial and tangible support from members of the community, and FICS^® is proud to answer their call and be a partner in their mission. One of FICS’ Administrative Assistants, who enjoys volunteering with her family, says that “seeing the magnitude of what is being done through the organization (NTFB) is humbling.”

With food prices predicted to increase 7.1 percent in 2023, the need for food assistance in North Texas, and beyond, is growing rapidly. Now is a terrific time to volunteer at your local food bank—or elsewhere. As our receptionist notes, the experience and value of volunteering are “absolutely priceless.” Any amount of time and effort you contribute—small or large—can make a big difference in your community.
