FICS^®: Giving Back to our North Texas Community

Continuing FICS’ commitment to giving back to our community, a group of FICS^® employees, family members, and friends recently volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) distribution center in Plano, TX. FICS’ team spent a few hours of their Saturday morning helping pack 17,000 meals for food insecure students through NTFB’s School Pantry and Food 4 Kids Programs.

In 2023 and going into 2024, the financial impact from inflation and lingering effects of the pandemic continue to put a tremendous strain on households all over the country. In North Texas, nearly 640,000 people face hunger – that’s one in eight people and includes 1 in 6 children. The NTFB, a nonprofit hunger relief organization, has provided a record-level 144 million nutritious meals in the last year – a 5% increase from the previous year. Without the help of countless dedicated volunteers who are willing to donate their time, energy, and resources, this wouldn’t be possible.

The NTFB depends on both financial and physical support from members of the community, and FICS^® is always proud to answer their call and be a partner in their mission. One of FICS’ Administrative Assistants said, “It was a fantastic way to give back this Thanksgiving season,” and she is “excited to continue volunteering for a non-profit organization that makes such a difference in the North Texas community.”

With no sign of food prices decreasing any time soon, the need for food assistance in North Texas, and beyond, continues to steadily grow. Now, more than ever, is a terrific time to volunteer at your local food bank—or elsewhere. As our Marketing Coordinator notes, “There's a lot of joy when a group comes together and makes a genuine effort to help communities that are in need. Knowing that we are creating a positive and lasting impression is why I enjoy volunteering.”
